We are currently holding registration for the following classes: 

 

Young Writers Program - Weekend Poetry Intensives

Young Poets Class (Ages 7-9)

Pre-Teen Poets Class (Ages 10-12)

Teen Poets Class (Ages 13-17)

 

Get your child's creative juices flowing as they discover their own unique voice through the magic of the written word. From acrostics to list poems, from blues poetry to hip hop, from sonnets to villanelles, expert instructors bring poetry to life in a supportive, non school-like environment. Designed to get students excited about reading and writing poetry, each workshop teaches participants to use imagery, form, metaphor, simile, tone and imaginative language to transform their memories, dreams, history, and sense of community into poetry. At the conclusion of each session, students will get to read their work at a public reading. An anthology featuring the students' poetry will be published at the end of the semester. Each student will receive one (1) complimentary copy of the anthology.

 

All workshop materials will be provided at no additional cost.

 

Dates & Times:

Session I: November 17, December 1, 8 & 15

Session II: January 5, 12, 19 & 26

Session III: Febrauary 9, 16 & 23, March 1

  

Classes are held Saturdays from 1-3pm on the 1st floor of Restoration's Youth Art Academy building located at 237 Herkimer Avenue (between Brooklyn & New York Avenues) in Brooklyn, NY. Each class will run for 3 sessions per semester.

 

Cost:

$125 per session + $25 non-refundable registration fee

(Limited scholarship spaces available, please contact us for further information)

 

Students currently enrolled in Youth Arts Academy classes save an additional $25 on single session enrollment

Payments may be left at Restoration's box office or mailed directly to us at the address above. If mailing your payment, we suggest sending it by a trackable method as we are not responsible for lost or stolen mail. Please note there is a a $30 returned check fee. Payment is due in full by November 17, 2007 for Session I, January 5, 2008 for Session II and February 9, 2008 for Session III. If enrolling in all three sessions, payment is due in full by November 17, 2007. NO EXCEPTIONS.
